Whether it’s dressing up in their older sibling’s best party outfit or serving invisible tea in plastic teacups, kids seem to love pretending that they’re grown ups. And that’s also true for the royal children too, including Princess Charlotte who has reportedly been getting on mum Kate Middleton’s nerves for repeatedly stealing one item in particular from her closet.
The item in question? Kate’s favorite pair of sunglasses, that six-year-old Charlotte just can’t keep her hands off. In fact, according to a source who spoke to Life & Stylethe little royal is utterly “obsessed” with the Duchess of Cambridge’s array of sunnies.
“When Kate can’t find a pair, they’ll often be found in Charlotte’s bedroom,” the insider said. “Charlotte already has a little collection of high street kids sunglasses at home,” the source added, although admittedly, mum’s sunnies are much more tempting.
“[Charlotte has] very expensive taste” when it comes to fashion, the source revealed. And that’s especially the case when it comes to crown jewels, as the insider let on that Kate bought her daughter a dress-up tiara, but Charlotte “prefers the real deal. “The young royal even “made Kate promise” to get her one in the future. Luckily, Charlotte appears to be in line to receive one of her late grandmother’s tiaras – which is an exclusive Spencer family heirloom.
But fashion isn’t the only way that Charlotte is following in Kate’s footsteps, as the mum and daughter duo have a number of shared interests, including sports. “Swimming, tennis and horse riding are her [Charlotte’s] favorites,” the insider said. “Kate is teaching Charlotte how to play hockey in the garden.”
They went on, “Princess Charlotte can’t wait to play rugby when she’s a little older! Prince George is already giving her a few tips but he’s more interested in football.”
Earlier this year, Kate showed off her own rugby skills whilst on an official visit to Twickenham Stadium (the English home of rugby). “Fantastic to meet the players, staff and referees representing the sport at the highest level. Even put the 👟 on to get a taste of how the teams train. Wishing both teams the best of luck in their upcoming tournaments!” Kate wrote in post on Instagram, alongside a video of her getting stuck in with England’s rugby players.
Maybe Kate and Charlotte can start their own royal rugby team?
