Marvel’s Rumored Namor Actor Is in the Same Location Black Panther 2 Is Shooting

Actor Tenoch Huerta, rumored to be playing Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is currently in the same location as the film’s production.

Rumors have circulated for some time now that actor Tenoch Huerta is attached to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as Namor, the Sub-Mariner. Huerta recently fueled those rumors when he revealed is currently in the same location as the film’s production.

The actor shared an image of social media, revealing he is currently in Puerto Rico. While the post itself contained no references to Wakanda Forever, it is known that production for the film recently moved there. It has been rumored Huerta will film flashback scenes featuring the people of Atlantis.

Despite the fact that filming for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was originally scheduled to conclude in March, it was reported that production would move to Puerto Rico, which will supposedly stand in for Haiti. It’s uncertain how this will impact the release date, if at all.

Rumors concerning Namor have circulated since summer 2021 following an unconfirmed report suggesting the Sub-Mariner and fellow Atlanteans Namora and Attuma. It was reported that Mabel Cadena was cast as Namora and was spotted in Atlanta, where much of Wakanda Forever‘s filming took place.

Namor, created by Bill Everett, debuted in 1939’s marvel comics #1. On top of being the King of Atlantis, the character is also a mutant. Though Namor and Black Panther have been allies in the comics, Atlanteans have also frequently warred with Wakanda. It’s uncertain how their relationship will be depicted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, should the rumors turn out to be true.

The appearance of an entirely new civilization is just one of several rumored introductions the Black Panther sequel will feature. It was previously reported that the upcoming film will see a major character in a same-sex relationship, which has been done before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but continues to be a rarity. Okoye, the famous Dora Milaje, will be in a relationship, though it wasn’t revealed who she will be in that relationship with.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will focus on Shuri, played by Letitia Wright. It is uncertain how the film will deal with the absence of T’Challa, whose actor, the late Chadwick Boseman, passed suddenly in 2020 following a battle with colon cancer. There has been some debate revolving around recasting the character and while Marvel Studios has not provided any comment on the matter, Boseman’s brother, Derrick, reportedly stated in the past that Chadwick would want the character to be recast, as the character is “bigger than just himself as one guy.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters July 8.
