Two Jeopardy! contestants are going viral after they both came up with the same wrong answer that aged Diana Ross by almost 20 years.
During Final Jeopardy this week, Ken Jennings gave contestants the following clue: “In 2021 at age 95, this singer achieved a Guinness World Record for the oldest person to release an album of new material.”
Margaret Chipowsky got the answer right with her answer: “Who is Tony Bennett?”
But Karen Johnson and Finn Corrigan drew the ire from fans of the show when they both guessed Diana Ross.
Bennett, who shared the clue on his own Twitter account, achieved the chart milestone last year after releasing Love for Salean album of songs originally written by Cole Porter.
But after aging Ross, who turns 78 this week, Johnson and Corrigan immediately found themselves trending for all the wrong reasons.
“Explain to me how two contestants thought Diana Ross is 95!” one person angrily wrote, with another adding, “I hope Diana Ross has a good sense of humour.”
“Last week, a Jeopardy! contesting thought Aretha Franklin was in the Supremes. Tonight, two out of three contestants thought Diana Ross was the answer to: “In 2021, what 95 year old singer released an album of new material?” These are surely signs of the apocalypse,” another remarked.
Both Johnson and Corrigan took to Twitter to apologize for the flub.
“Deepest apologies to the iconic Diana Ross!” Johnson wrote. “I didn’t really think you were the answer, but was running out of time and had to put something!”

“Me too!” Corrigan added. “I knew she was not nearly that old but better to write something than nothing. Just glad we’re in this together.”
“I mean, to be fair, you’re only 75 years younger than Tony Bennett, so generationally, it’s a bit of a stretch,” Jennings said, comforting Corrigan.
