Bridgerton’s Marc Pilcher dedication

ace Bridgerton season two dropped on Netflix, the team took time to commemorate those among them who sadly died between the two seasons.

While the Ton’s latest scandals kept fans hooked, the first episode was dedicated to the memory of Marc Pilcher.

Here’s what you need to know about him and the mark he’s left behind on the show.


Who is Marc Pilcher?

Marc Pilcher was a hair and make-up designer who helped create some of the most distinctive looks in the Bridgerton world.

Before the Netflix smash-hit, he had previously worked on the Downton Abbey movie, the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson and Mary, Queen Of Scots starring Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie, for which he was nominated for an Oscar.

In the case of Bridgertonalongside the hair and make-up team, he won his first Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling.

Tragically, in October 2021, just three weeks after winning the award, Pilcher died of coronavirus at the age of 53. Publicists Curtis Brown confirmed the news, stating that he was double-vaccinated with no known underlying health conditions at the time of his death .

“Glamorous and extravagant, he brought his flair and style to every design,” the statement read (via variety). “Never limited in his thought process for his creations, he pushed boundaries and created work never realized before.”

As news of his death broke, cast members including Nicola Coughlan (who plays Penelope Featherington) posted their condolences online.

Nicola Coughlan shared two tributes to him, the first a selfie of Pilcher in a suit, alongside some of the Bridgerton looks he helped create.

“So heartbroken by the loss of Marc Pilcher, the brilliant and visionary Hair and Makeup designer for Bridgerton season one,” she wrote.

“Marc was so passionate about his work and so tremendously talented. Not even a month ago he won his first Emmy award. It’s a tragedy that he’s been taken so young when he had so much yet to do.

“Please also use this as a reminder that Covid is still a very real and present danger, please get vaccinated and mask up to protect yourself and others.”

In the second, he was seen working between takes on the hair of Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise Bridgerton.

“It was so lovely to see this video of Marc in his element, doing what he did so brilliantly,” she wrote.
